Certificated Flight Instructor- Instrument (CFII)

Description

This course is an FAA approved part 141 course for those who already hold a commercial or higher pilot certificate with an instrument rating in helicopters.

The CFII may be obtained prior to the Flight Instructor Helicopter rating.

In some cases, previous knowledge and experience can be credited toward the course curriculum requirements per 14 CFR 141.77 (c).

Training under 14 CFR part 61 can be provided. Custom training programs are available based on individual’s previous knowledge and flight experience.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must read, speak, write, and understand English 

  • Hold a commercial or higher pilot certificate with Instrument Rating

  • BasicMed or FAA 3rd Class Medical or higher

Course Details

  • 15 hours minimum flight training

  • 15 hours minimum of ground training 

  • 6.4 hours pre and post flight evaluations

  • Pass FAA Knowledge Exam (and FOI Knowledge Exam if the applicant does not hold a CFI certificate)

  • Pass oral/practical test conducted by an FAA designated examiner
